Angels lose in last league game

The Angels lost their final league game of the season at Longmead Stadium on a sunny but bizarre Saturday afternoon. The league's Champions Dover Athletic came away 2-0 winners from a match that did not finish until 5.35pm.

The Angels started brightly and were on top before a Tim Olorunda cross caught Dover winger Lee Browning clean on the chin.
Browning hit the floor and before both physios could reach him, he had swallowed his tongue and stopped breathing.
Following 45 seconds without breathing the physios and a doctor stabalised Browning's condition before he was taken to Kent & Sussex hospital by ambulance. Thankfully he later returned to the ground and returned to Dover with the rest of his squad.

The match eventually restarted at 15:38, a 26 minute delay, and within five minutes the away side had taken the lead. A Sam Gore cross was not dealt with by the Angels and Lassana Sidibe fired under the body of Lee Worgan.

Shortly following the opening goal, play was once again stopped as the referee suffered a calf injury. He was eventually replaced in the middle by his assistant, who in turn was replaced from a qualified linesman from the crowd.

Within minutes the new referee had his first decision to make, sending off Angels keeper Lee Worgan. A poor Scott Gooding pass went straight to Dover star midfielder Jon Wallis who burst through on goal only to be taken down by Worgan, who was deemed to be last man and sent his marching orders.
Wallis dispatched the spot kick to double the Champions lead, with full back Phil Starkey now in goal for the Angels.

However, Dover's man advantage did not last long as centre back Ollie Schultz was shown red following an elbow to top scorer Carl Rook. This was followed by both managers going face to face outside the dugouts, before both were sent to the stands.

Half time eventually came following an 87 minute half of football... the second half was the complete opposite with only a few saves from stand in keeper Starkey and a Paul Booth header saved on the line to talk about.

The Angels will now have to pick themselves up for the playoff semi final match on Tuesday against Carshalton Athletic, following their 2-1 victory against Hendon.

Angels: Worgan, Starkey, Glover, Tyne, Dayes, Gooding, Westcott, Olorunda, Cade, Rook, Clarke.

Subs: Booth, Hamilton, Ferguson, Minshull.
