Walking Football Update
New Over-65 team in first day action
The new Kent Walking Football League Over-65 Division got underway at the Yeomans Community Stadium on Saturday morning. Our new team took on Ebbsfleet United, a team full of regular Walking Footballers, including an ex-Angel, Garry Aldous.
Ebbsfleet took control early on but goalkeeper Paul Roberts was in fine form while we settled into a pattern and began to nullify the opposition. At this point we began to gain control but our shots were met by an outstanding goalkeeper. But one excellent move from Ebbsfleet, left a gap which they exploited giving Paul no chance with a hard crossfield shot.
In the second half the Angels looked the stronger, more cohesive, team and pushed Ebbsfleet back. But yet again their keeper stopped everything, including one astonishing double save, to deny Steve Williams. This proved to be the difference and Ebbsfleet came away with the win.
This was the first outing for our new team and after a sticky start they became more cohesive and put on a great response to a well-drilled Ebbsfleet who won, courtesy of their goalkeeper. We look forward to better returns in future games.
