Angels victorious in A21 Derby

There was to be no giant killing as Angels ran out comfortable 3-0 winners and once they got themselves ahead they never really looked in any genuine danger.

In the 10th minute a succession of corners for the home side saw a goal line clearance and the Sevenoaks woodwork was struck. The visitors responded six minutes later when Mikey Dalton was through and forced a good save from Angels keeper Jonny Henly.

After 20 minutes Jack Richards for Tonbridge made a strong run down the left flank but his effort was diverted for a corner. It was however a warning for Sevenoaks as the same player was about to have a significant impact on the match.

In the 38th minute Jared Small at the back post collected Tom Parkinson’s pass, sent the ball across the goal only for Richards who had stolen in behind defenders to open the scoring. In the space of the following three minutes he was then victim of two bookable fouls by the same player, full back Wasiri Williams who was to play no further part in the game.

The second half saw Tonbridge with a man advantage take a strangle hold of the game. Wave after wave of home attacks eventually saw Richards in the 55th minute strike his second of the night after the ball rebounded to him following an earlier effort.

Chances for the Angels then came for Small, Liam King, Joe Turner and Callum Adonis-Taylor but somehow Sevenoaks held on to keep the deficit at least respectable. The referee evened things up personnel wise by showing a red card to King in the 65th minute for a second bookable offence and as a result Sevenoaks did start to have a little more possession but they lacked a genuine cutting edge. William Johnson-Cole for the visitors brought Henly into action in the 71st minute with a goal bound effort, and a Sevenoaks free kick was just wide of the post in the 87th minute.

It was however Tonbridge still creating the genuine chances with Alex Reid off the bench just inches away following a move between Jack Parter and Small, with Turner coming close in the 89th minute. It was left to the Angels substitutes Adem Ramadan with the cross and Read to get the vital touch that provided the score line to reflect the Angels overall dominance of the game.
