The Angels lost their 100% away league record but remain unbeaten on their travels and are joint top of the table on points albeit Dorking Wanderers have a better goal difference by one. They left King George’s Field with a point following a 1-1 draw with in form Kingstonian and undoubtedly will be the happier of the two teams with an 87th minute equaliser through Liam King.

The K’s started in confident style and they had every reason to having enjoyed five straight home wins and as early as the 3rd minute Elliot Buchanan had an effort saved by Jonathan Henly in the Tonbridge goal. At the other end a Jared Small effort was blocked and it did seem that Angels best outlet would be Small on the right flank. But it was the home side who were starting to assert themselves on the game with the two lively strikers Buchanan and Louis Theophanous combining well and Aaron Lamont pulling the strings in midfield.

It was no real surprise that Kingstonian took the lead in the 32nd minute through Theophanous although Angels will be disappointed with how it was conceded. Joe Turner and new signing Sammy Knott appeared to get in each other’s way and the loose ball fell to the home striker who charged down the now unguarded right flank to place a well struck shot past Henly’s nearside post.

At that point it looked like it could be a long night for Tonbridge but they managed to get to half time just the one goal in arrears.

The second half saw a much more subdued Kingstonian although they thought they had probably made the game safe in the 50th minute when a block save by Henly rebounded to a K’s forward who hit the back of the net but was ruled offside.

Gradually Tonbridge started to work their way into the game and the sign of that seemed to come in the 62nd minute when a clever pass from Tom Parkinson to Turner saw the winger’s cross just evade a blue shirt. Nevertheless Tonbridge pushed on from there and started to find much more space on both wings. Tommy Whitnell’s introduction added to the Angels midfield creativity and together with Tom Beere the visitors were getting much longer periods of possession in good areas.

The equalising goal came in the 87th minute when James Folkes who typified the Angels spirit in that late show put in an excellent cross that was converted by Liam King with a fine header. At that point it looked like Tonbridge could even go on and win it but that would have been something of a steal.
