Angels made if four wins out of four with a relatively straightforward win against Ebbsfleet United at a rain swept Longmead to put themselves in the semi finals of the Kent Senior Cup.

They will now host another National League club, Bromley, in the semi final.

Although the visitors started with a flourish, Angels soon settled with D'Sean Theobalds running the midfield and Jared Small causing all sorts of problems on the right wing. Throughout the half he produced a number of teasing crosses from open play which should have been converted. It was the same story with set pieces with headers that were just wide or hit the woodwork.

Would the home side pay for all those missed chances. The second half continued in the same vein with Tonbridge still very much on top and creating genuine opportunities. The introduction of Chinedu McKenzie for Small didn't make life any easier for the visitors, it was simply a different set of problems to deal with. Eventually the breakthrough came in the 61st minute when McKenzie got his head to a corner and the ball rebounded into the net off his marker Matthew Achuba. Although there was something of a response from Ebbsfleet, the game was settled in the 83rd minute. Adem Ramadan wide on the right fed the ball to McKenzie who unselfishly laid the ball back to Thomas Beere who fired low from just inside the penalty area to put the home side 2-0 up.

It was no more than Tonbridge deserved and as coach Justin Luchford explained afterwards: "We made some changes by starting Beere and Liam Smith and both did very well. You want to see players who have had some time on the bench react in the way they did by putting in a good shift and giving the Gaffer a challenge over selection."
