Under-14's exit County Cup

Our Under-14s hosted Herne Bay in the Second Round of the Kent County Cup, the match was originally scheduled to be played at Herne Bay but was switched to Mascalls to allow the tie to go ahead.

The team started on the front foot and created several good openings only to find the Herne Bay goalkeeper in excellent form. Herne Bay then scored two quick goals against the run of play and despite the Angels continuing to push forward, creating several more good opportunities, they went in 2-0 down at half time.

The second half was similar to the first with Angels continuing to create good opportunities. However, as the team pushed forward, we were caught on the break a further three times. The team finally got the goal they deserved with George Rayner firing home from the edge of the box.

On another day, against a different keeper and with a bit more luck in front of goal, it is no exaggeration to say we could have scored six or seven goals and a 1-5 scoreline was in no way a reflection of a very even game.

Team: Laker, Cooper, Garside, Armes, Poole, Bennett, Baker, Honarvar(c), Rayner, Gardner, Velvick: Subs; Nguyen, Cogan, Turner.
