U14's downed by the Devils
The team traveled to South London to take on Red Devil’s United. On a windy afternoon and on a poor pitch, it was difficult to play any real quality football but the team started on the front foot and created three very good chances in the first 20 minutes, all of which we failed to take. Then the mistakes of the previous weeks came back to haunt us and we conceded a soft goal to a long ball over the top and as a result somehow went in to the break one down.
The second half started much as the first had finished. Two more defensive mistakes both resulting in goals meant somehow we found ourselves three down. On a positive note the team didn’t give up and 10 minutes from time a penalty from Archie Gardner after Hayden Velvick was fouled reduced the deficit. A second goal soon followed, Barney Moth prodding home Velvick’s cross. The team pushed forward looking for an equaliser but unfortunately ran out of time. This was a match we should have won but missing good chances at one end and making defensive mistakes at the other ultimately cost us.
