Angels go down to Sutton Common Rovers' late winner
In their second pre-season friendly, again behind closed doors, it was another step 5 outfit hosting the Angels this time Sutton Common Rovers of The Combined Counties League Premier Division, but there was to be no repeat of the previous Saturday's goal fest for the visitors. In fact the Angels were to go down 2-1 with the winner for the hosts coming in the 89th minute.
It would seem that Boss Steve McKimm is running his eye over a number of trialists and that may have played a part in the apparently somewhat disjointed performance. The home side opened the scoring in the 36th minute and Angels whose performance did improve in the second half were eventually to get on level terms in the 77th minute through Jason Williams. The striker was however to blot his copybook in the 82nd minute by getting sent off seemingly for violent conduct. The 10 men then conceded that very late winner for Sutton Common Rovers.
It is likely that despite the disappointing defeat, McKimm will have learnt more from this game than the previous outing to Loxwood.
