Angels get that first home win
An interesting clash between two sides, desperate for points having both lost their last three fixtures despite making promising starts to the season, and it was the home side who were to prevail as they gained their first victory in front of their fans.
It was a bright opening with just in the first couple of minutes Gard for Angels on the end of the first attack and at the other end Felix with a teasing cross that Henly was forced to claw away.
The home side then took the ascendancy with the wing play of Addy forcing Dulwich back on the defensive. The goal that Angels had threatened eventually arrived in the 21st minute and it was the aforementioned Addy who scored but not after some excellent build up play with midfielder Gard at the heart of it and Turner supplying the final pass.
Angels continued to dominate but couldn’t put daylight between themselves and Dulwich who following a couple of minutes of dominance equalised on 34 minutes through the impressive Mills.
The home side were dominant in the early stages of the second period with Collins creating two chances that on another day he would have put away. They say third time lucky and so it was on 56 minutes when a Fielding cross was neatly converted by the striker.
Dulwich reacted and their earlier goalscorer Mills saw his effort graze the outside of the post on 68 minutes but Angels were in no mood to capitulate and on 70 minutes Lewis Gard confirmed Tonbridge’s dominance with a brilliant run through the Hamlet defence.
Dulwich kept plugging away with Porter and Akanbi having chances but Tonbridge always looked capable of holding onto the advantage and in truth could have added to the scoreline.
