Jay's Friday Briefing
Devonte Aransibia could provide added goals, and boost the whole squad, according to manager Jay Saunders, as he prepares for tomorrow's game away to Hemel Hempstead.
Jay is excited to bring back one of last season's star players and he accepts there may be one or two supporters who may not have forgiven him for leaving for Maidstone in the summer.
Jay said: "I get that, but it's not like we're both part time. He left because it was an opportunity for full time football. Supporters have to realise, like with other people's careers, you have to look at opportunities when they're put in front of you. He'd like to be a full time footballer. A lot of our players, if a full-time club came in for them they'd have to look at it. He was keen to come back. I told him there might be the odd supporter but he said he'd come in, do a job, and I'm sure he'll win them over.
"At this time of the season we need to add competition and goals. He was good for us last year so when the opportunity came up I had to look at it. It's not often a player comes up who knows the club already and can settle straight in and he can do that and kickstart his season."
If Tonbridge win the game and other results go the right way, we could be in the play-off positions by 5 o'clock, but Jay knows it's a tough game ahead of us:
"It's a difficult place to go. The pitch is a different sort of 3G than we're used to, the changing rooms are really small, and you have to be mentally right, which we've made the players aware of. We've prepped really well, we're not on a horrendous run and it's an opportunity to go again and get a win."
"Waggy will have a fitness test but other than that we're OK. Obed and Francis are going out on dual reg (to Margate). With Paris Lock coming in we can allow Francis to do that. We've also brought Hayden Velvick back. He's done really well at Rusthall and he's been training really well and he's someone who has impressed us and is ready to be more involved, so he'll come into the squad."
