Jay's Friday Briefing
It's another trip to the West Country again for Tonbridge Angels as we make our first visit to Weston-super-Mare since the 2013/14 season.
Weston beat us in our first home game of the season, so what is manager Jay Saunders expecting?
"On the day I thought it was harsh we lost the game. Having come up, they were on a bounce. They've dropped off a bit but they're a good side, they know each other well, it's a tough place to go. I'm glad we go there on the back of a win but I'm not expecting an easy game."
Absentees through injury and illness meant a slightly different look to the Tonbridge side at Dover on Tuesday night with Francis Mampolo back in the starting eleven and Mo Dabre and Liam Vincent having to change position, so what can we expect from the line-up?
Jay said: "I'm hoping a few are due back but, as of Thursday night, there wasn't much change. Everyone who came in did well, Liam at centre-half, Mo at left-back and Francis being brought back and scoring the winner. I said to Francis, go out and get a few games, keep yourself fit, and come back and prove a point and he did well. I want those headaches. I can't wait to get everyone back and we can pick teams for certain games. At the moment the team almost picks itself.
"There's one or two who'll have fitness tests. It might be a week too early for Jernade (Meade), Sean Shields has an outside chance, Jamie Fielding might be OK after illness, and we'll see how Ansu (Janneh) is. I know people question why we've brought people in, but it's been a season when people who we've brought in have been used."
Devonte Aransibia has not featured in the last two games. He started against Hemel but has been an unused sub in the two games since. Jay explained it's all about competition:
He said: "The three have done well. I wanted competition. Higgy was outstanding the other night. Waggy and Gardy have been very good. I made Devonte aware when he came in that as a three they've been very good this season and he has to break into it. In those games I thought they were the right three. If there's games I feel are right for Devonte we'll look at that."
