U18's fall to Champions defeat
Tonbridge Angels U18's Champions of Champions quest fell at the final hurdle with a heavy defeat against an outstanding Worthing side.
A failure to take early chances and a late collapse contributed to a 6-1 scoreline that doesn't entirely reflect the game as a whole.
The Angels had carved out three shots on goal before going behind in the 16th minutes with a goal from the right side of the box from the Worthing full back.
Worthing doubled their advantage before Ishe Hunidzarira chipped the goalkeeper to reduce the deficit to a single goal before the break.
Tolu Fabimafobee fired a couple of efforts narrowly wide that might just have given the second half an interesting look.
The Worthing goalkeeper turned over the bar an effort from Fiachra Pritchard before a miskick in the Angels penalty area offered an easy chance in front of goal to make it 4-1.
Two late goals gave a scoreline that was dispiriting but James Larkin commented after the match: "Unfortunately outclassed in the second half, despite creating numerous early chances. Worthing absolutely worthy winners and deservedly take the champions of champions crown. The boys have done the club proud and can hold their heads high."
