Enfield Town Preview
National League South action returns to the Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadium on Tuesday evening with Enfield Town providing the opposition, kick off 7.45pm, as the Angels embark on a five week period that sees them with seven home games including this fixture and next Tuesday’s against Chesham United which carries the Two for Twenty offer, tickets that can be purchased HERE.
Enfield Town, who were promoted from the Isthmian League Premier via the play-offs last season, were a regular opponent in our Step Three days, but this is their first visit since beating us 2-1 in October 2018 with goals from Ryan Blackman and Taofiq Olomowewe whilst the Angels only reply was a late consolation goal from Joe Turner. Sam Youngs, remains in the Enfield Town squad from that of 2018.
Enfield Town have had an uncomfortable National League South season so far, their first at Step Two since their formation in 2001, and find themselves bottom of the table. Since a win over Weymouth in early October they've drawn two and lost six of their eight games.
Youngs is the club's main goal threat with five, while five players have two, including Jake Hutchinson who spent a spell on loan with Angels from Colchester in 2021 and Harry Ottaway, who, if selected, lines up for the Angels against his old club.
The Town are managed by Gavin Macpherson, who has history with Tonbridge Angels, having been the manager of Metropolitan Police for the momentous Super Play-off Final of 2019.
On Saturday, whilst we were inactive due to our elimination from the FA Trophy, Enfield Town also exited that competition, going down to a 4-2 defeat at Sittingbourne where ex-Angel Joe Boachie picked up a couple of goals. The Town’s scorers were Hutchinson and Youngs.
Admission prices for Tuesday’s game are: Adults £17; Concessions £14; Youths £7 and Under-12’s free with accompanying adult with tickets available HERE.
