The journey begins
After 15 weeks of waiting, we start our sixth consecutive season in National League South on Saturday with the visit of Weymouth.
For those of you who have not seen the new signings yet there are a few in the squad who could make their debuts, goalkeeper Toby Steward, defenders Ronny Nelson, Crossley Lema and Naz Bakrin, midfielder Taylor Maloney, winger Fumnaya Shomotun and forwards Trevan Robinson and Rayan Clarke, while Noel Leighton will be hoping to be fit from an ankle injury as soon as possible. We also welcome for the first time as permanent Tonbridge players Liam Vincent and Jeremy Santos.
Weymouth finished 15th last season and with the return of Mark Molesley as manager they will be hoping to do better this season. In pre-season they won two, drawn two and lost two, most recently last Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Dorchester.
Two seasons ago we also started the season against Weymouth in Jay Saunders' first game in charge, this time at the Bob Lucas stadium, coming back to Kent 3-1 winners with goals from Femi Akinwande, Sonny Miles and TQ Addy.
Jay Saunders said: "I can't wait to get started. Pre-seasons are for getting people minutes, you want to win but it's about getting as many minutes into players. Now the real stuff starts and the boys are looking forward to it. We'll be in for a tough opening game, but hopefully we can get a good crowd in and really kick the season off."
