Sittingbourne Preview

Tuesday evening brings Kent Senior Cup football to the Yeomans Community Stadium with the visit of Sittingbourne.

Sittingbourne have made another solid start to the season, presently sitting in eighth place, but only three points away from the top five and have already accumulated a couple of games in hand on some clubs above them.

Manager Ryan Maxwell, now in his third season at Woodstock Park, has had to pick up the Brickies after the disappointment of losing out in the play-offs last season despite accumulating in excess of 100 points. Mitchell May, last season’s leading goalscorer, has departed to Ramsgate and ex-Angel Liam Smith moved on to Folkestone Invicta leaving Maxwell to reshape his squad signing further ex-Angels in Jadon Crowhurst and Ellis Brown to add to Tonbridge 2019 play-off hero D’Sean Theobalds.

Sittingbourne’s squad has a wealth of experience from Mitchell Beeney between the sticks; Gavin Hoyte, who began his career at Arsenal before making over 100 appearances for Maidstone United through to Derek Asamoah, a Ghanaian international, who made his name at Northampton Town before travelling the world with spells at Nice (France), Lokomotiv Sofia (Bulgaria), Pohang Steelers and Daegu (South Korea) before returning to opposite ends of this country at Carlisle United and New Salamis of the Isthmian League North. Now 44, he trained with Sittingbourne pre-season and Maxwell was delighted to welcome him in the squad.

Angels manager, Alan Dunne will be looking to give some minutes to players but, nonetheless, sees every game or training session as an opportunity to assess his squad and, at the end of the season, any trophy is one worth winning.

Admission prices for Tuesday evening’s game are: Adults £12; Concessions £10; Youths £5 and Under-12’s free with accompanying adult with tickets available HERE or pay by cash or card on the turnstiles.

Gates open at 6 pm with the Sports Bar open from the outset with the Tea Hut serving burgers, hot dogs, butties, hot and cold drinks also open from 6 pm. Fries Like An Angel will not be open. After the game, the Sports Bar will be open for a limited amount of time.

Enjoy the game!
