Bath City Preview
On Tuesday evening, we make a long journey down to Bath for a rearranged fixture due to our FA Cup involvement last month. Our travelling support face an early hours of the morning return home and we thank everyone of you planning to make the trip.
Bath City sit just a point and a place below Tonbridge Angels in National League South and much of the reason for their lowly position is down to their poor home form having won just twice in eight games at Twerton Park, although on Saturday, they earned a creditable draw from the visit of Dagenham and Redbridge.
Darren Way took over as manager just about a year ago replacing the long-serving Jerry Gill who had been at the helm for seven years.
Bradley Ash signed permanently for the Romans during the summer after a loan spell from Torquay United at the end of last season and has six goals to his name this season. Also on six for the season, from midfield, is Will Jenkins who joined after being released by Plymouth Argyle during the summer.
Last season’s corresponding fixture, back in March, saw the home side win 2-0 with goals from Ash and Mitch Beardmore, that also brought a late sending-off for Ethan Sutcliffe.
Twerton Park is one of the grand old grounds of non-league football and has been home to Bath City since 1932 and whilst it is a little world weary in areas it never loses its charm.
The main grandstand, set back from the pitch with a terraced area in front, has a seated capacity of 771 and requires the climbing of a set of stairs for entry. There is open terracing at both ends, the Bristol End being quite shallow with the Bath End a substantial area of terracing. The Popular Side is fully covered and runs the length of the pitch.
The social club, which is at the back of the main grandstand and accessed before entering the stadium welcomes away supporters. Inside the ground there are food outlets alongside the main stand and on the Popular side.
There is no unallocated parking at the ground. There is free parking at Curo which is a five minute walk to the ground. Street parking should be made with due consideration to the residents.
Train travellers will arrive at Bath Spa in the city centre. Twerton Park is a flat walk from the station and takes approximately 35 minutes or you can catch the number 5 bus from the bus station adjacent to the train station.
