Akanbi is an Angel
Tonbridge Angels FC are delighted to announce that Ibby Akanbi has signed for the blues
Ibby Akanbi joins the Angels from tomorrow’s opponents Worthing.
Akanbi started his football career as a youth at Crystal Palace. He went on to feature for the likes of Guildford City, Whyteleafe, Whitehawk, Kettering Town and Farnborough.
Akanbi joined Worthing in October last year after a short spell at Dulwich Hamlet. Whilst at Worthing, Ibby contributed 12 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions and was a regular first team player.
He’s also spent time at the likes of Maidstone, Aldershot and Dagenham and Redbridge.
With 40 appearances in National League South and 17 in the National League, Ibby is a player who’s familiar with the level of this league and above and has scored 12 goals across both divisions.
Angels boss Jay Saunders said on the signing "Ibby is someone I've liked for a couple of years now. I'm delighted to have him onboard. He brings a different dimension to what we've got. He's got pace, power and hopefully goals. We need to replace Greenidge's and Jack Wood's goals from last season and hopefully he can help us do that"
