Mike Knell is Angels new Head of Recruitment for the 1st team and will be an integral part of Boss Jay Saunders’ back room staff.   

He has been working in football recruitment since 2019 and has held a similar role at Braintree Town where alongside boss Ryan Maxwell he played a major part in managing to bring in players that despite a challenging budget ultimately helped the club preserve its National League South status.  

Mike through his work has collated a considerable number of contacts throughout the game and has in particular an encyclopaedic knowledge of players in our league.  

Said Saunders today: “Mike has great experience in non-league player recruitment and I am delighted he has agreed to join us.  He will be in charge of the scouting operation for the club and through that will ensure that games and consequently players are monitored that quite simply myself, Blackie and Tommy would not have the time to carry out.”

The appointment is made of course on suitability but perhaps its good to note that Mike is returning to his roots as he is able to count himself an Angels supporter for over 35 years.
