Angels new Commercial Manager
Ross Bennett appointed for key role
Tonbridge Angels FC has appointed Ross Bennett to be the club’s new Commercial Manager. Reporting to Commercial Director, Sophie Purves, Ross will be responsible for nurturing current arrangements with all existing sponsors and commercial partners that vary from products such as pitch side advertising boards through to the club's principal sponsors, as well as developing new business opportunities that will help to increase the club's profile throughout the Tonbridge area.
Ross has a strong background in relationship management and has already completed a strategic marketing study focussing on how to increase matchday revenue at Longmead as part of his Masters degree. Ross is very keen to listen to the ideas of supporters and build strong partnerships with all our sponsors both existing and new.
He already has a strong sense of the locality having attended school in the town and was brought up in the area. He’s also been attending Angels matches for the past 15 years both home and away so has a personal understanding of the special place the club holds in the hearts of many of the towns residents, and the ideals that the club stands for.
After six years working as manager in Anti-Money Laundering in the Sports Betting Industry, Ross has sought a move into the Football Industry and saw the commercial manager opportunity at Tonbridge Angels Football Club as a great chance to learn about operations within a Football Club with vision and ambition.
Commenting on his appointment, Commercial Director Sophie Purves said, “We are delighted to welcome Ross to the Club as our Commercial Manager. Ross is really enthusiastic about the role and I’m sure he’ll make a positive impact at Tonbridge Angels through the relationships he builds with sponsors, commercial partners and our fans. Not only was he a high calibre candidate for the position, but his knowledge of the local area and his passion for the Club cemented the decision to appoint him. I look forward to working with Ross when he starts his role in May.”
Ross said, "I'm extremely excited to be taking up this opportunity with Tonbridge Angels Football Club. As a supporter of the team home and away over the past 15 years, I'm incredibly proud to be able to work with the club in order to help Tonbridge Angels continue to grow and prosper. I'm really looking forward to the challenge ahead and meeting supporters, sponsors and new colleagues. The Board of Directors has a clear vision for the Club and I’m delighted to be part of the journey."
Ross has a Law degree from Birmingham University and is currently in the process of completing a Masters in Sport Management and Business of Football from Birkbeck, University of London. He will be taking up his new position at Longmead on 9th May.
