Angels take trip to Childrens' Ward
Gifts for the children at Hedgehog Ward, Tunbridge Wells Hospital
Members of Tonbridge Angels men’s and women’s first team squads visited the Hedgehog Ward at Tunbridge Wells Hospital on Tuesday 19th December with gifts for the children.
Team captains Scott Wagstaff and Lucy Harrington were both part of the group. Scott said: “We were really pleased to be able to visit Tunbridge Wells Hospital to bring some Christmas cheer to the children and young people we met. It’s not an easy time for these families, but hopefully we helped to lift their spirits. It was great that so many members of the men’s and women’s first team were able to attend, as well as club management and our chaplain Neil.”
Lucy added: “What an absolute pleasure it was to visit Tunbridge Wells Hospital to visit the children’s ward. Was so lovely to be able to put smiles on the children’s faces especially this time of year, when it can be so difficult for some families. I know it meant a lot to us as a club to be able to visit the children and I’m sure I speak for all of us that it was an honour to be able to do this and want to thank everyone at the hospital and wish them and the families a Happy Christmas.”
We were delighted to receive this message from a parent following the visit: “I just wanted to say a huge thank you for the incredible kindness from you and the Tonbridge Angels yesterday at Pembury. My son was absolutely made up by the visit and was still buzzing about it this morning. Please do pass on to everyone how meaningful it was to him - they absolutely made his day.”
Many thanks go to former Owners’ Committee chair Debbie Couldridge for co-ordinating the visit and the children’s gifts and to the staff of the Hedgehog Ward for welcoming us.
