Charlton Striker joins Angels
Dylan Gavin on loan until January
Nineteen year old striker Dylan Gavin has been signed by Angels from EFL Charlton Athletic.
The Irishman played Gaelic football in his native country but it was in the Association version of the game that his sporting career really flourished with international honours gained in the Republic’s U16 team with significant interest at that stage being shown by the Addicks.
He went on to join the South East London club scoring regularly at youth level to the extent that in 2021 he signed a professional contract for the Charlton Athletic Academy.
As part of his development he went on loan to Billericay Town where he was to score 6 goals in 16 appearances including the winning strike in the Essex Senior Cup Final against Bowers & Pitsea.
Angels Boss, Jay Saunders said: “He had a good spell at Billericay last year, he knows the level, he’s a physical striker, but what really impressed me, when I saw him score for Charlton under 23s is his work rate. I think he’ll score goals for us.
“With Femi leaving we had to get the right one in and he’ll be a good addition. With him and Louis I think that gives us two good attacking options.
“I’d like to thank Steve Avory and Charlton for helping us.”
Subject to the satisfactory completion of paper work, Dylan will be available for selection as part of the Angels squad to face Hampton & Richmond Borough in this Saturday’s first home league game.
