Former Angels favourite hangs up boots at 28

Luke Blewden

Injury forces Luke Blewden (Blewie) to end his playing days

Luke Blewden (28) has called time on his playing career due to injury issues.

He said via Facebook: ….."I've been playing in pain for the last few years and a scan has shown a lot of knee damage (arthritis and other issues) to the point I need to wear a knee brace for the forseeable future. I've also been told to give up football otherwise I will need a knee replacement before 35...….."

Always a favourite at Longmead, Blewie constantly gave 100% every time he played and was just simply a really decent bloke both on and off the pitch.  He had three different spells with the 1st team making a total of 115 starts with a further 73 appearances from the Bench and scored 34 goals.

Thanks, Luke for everything you gave to this club and may you have a great future whether inside or outside the game.  You will always be very welcome to visit Longmead.
