He’s one of our own!

Tyrie

Joe Tyrie is an Angel for 2023/24

Joe Tyrie has re-signed for Tonbridge Angels for the upcoming season.

Walking the same pathway of Sonny Miles, Joe really is one of our own. Now 19, Joe has progressed through every year group of Kent Youth League football with the Angels and has served three years at the club’s Academy, in which he picked up a title winner’s medal every season.

As a 17 year-old, Joe was dual registered with, at the time South Counties East, Crowborough Athletic and eventually captained the Crows at just 18 years of age. Last season, he was initially loaned to Faversham Town, but it was after Christmas from which time he spent the rest of the season at Sittingbourne, under the guidance of Ryan Maxwell and playing alongside Joe Ellul, that Joe started to receive rave reviews including winning player of the month for March. Joe ended the season at the Brickies with 17 appearances to his name, scoring twice.

Here at the Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadium, Joe presently has nine first team appearances to his name, with many more expected to follow.

Joe commented after penning his signature: “Really pleased to sign on this coming season for my home town club. I’m hoping to break into the first team more regularly. Cannot wait for the season to start!”

Manager Jay Saunders said of Joe: “The lad has a very bright future and I’m glad that we have secured him for next season. He has had a very good time at the Academy under Parky and last year the loans to Faversham and Sittingbourne worked out very well for him. As a management team we are very optimistic that Joe can kick on this coming season.”
