Over the course of November supporters would have noticed the name of Billy French appearing on the team sheet and over 700 of you would have witnessed his first start on Tuesday evening at Longmead against Aveley.

That he hasn’t been formally introduced is our bad, but herewith we correct the oversight.

Billy is a 20 year-old centre back who can also play at right back as he did on Tuesday. Billy had been at The Valley eight years when his contract was not extended with his full time term blighted by injury.

He spent pre-season here at Longmead after speaking to Jeremy Santos who sold the club to him describing the Angels as a great environment with passionate support that gets behind the team. He has been building his fitness after a long time out and in his interview following the game on Tuesday he said of himself, “a bit rusty, but I feel great.” His interview can be viewed here .
