Introducing Obed Yeboah
Our new signing from Truro City
Supporters who might have been watching Match of the Day back in the 1990’s would have noticed a famous name on Saturday’s Tonbridge Angels team sheet and thought “I wonder if …” Well, the answer to that question is Yes!
Our new signing, Obed Yeboah, is indeed the nephew of Tony Yeboah, whose goals for Leeds United, featured in Goal of the Month competitions and, his goal in September 1995 against Wimbledon won the Match of the Day Goal of the Season for 1995-96.
Obed, 19 years old, and like his Uncle Tony a striker, was born in the Netherlands, but has dual citizenship with Ghana. He spent his youth career at AFC Wimbledon where he made his EFL debut as a substitute at Barrow.
Following his release from AFC Wimbledon in the summer, he joined up with Truro City where he has made 11 appearances this season.
Jay Saunders said of his signing: "Obed has really impressed since he’s been in with us with his enthusiasm and desire to be part of the squad! He adds something different to the options we have in the forward line and his pace and power will be a great asset to us."
We welcome Obed to the Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadium and trust he will enjoy his time with us.
