Jamie is the fans' choice

Fielding Player of the Year

Defender wins the award

In front of the appreciative supporters of Tonbridge Angels in the South Stand, after the final game against Boreham Wood, Sophie Purves and her board gathered in the penalty area to award the Supporters’ Player of the Year Award to Jamie Fielding. Liam Vincent was named as the runner-up.

In his post-match interview, Scott Wagstaff paid tribute to the central defender: “Jamie has been spot on, I said at the awards night, in the three years I have been here, he has improved every season. He is getting better and better on the ball, off the ball as in communication, his information could still improve but he is still relatively young, so he has time to mature and he has been excellent along with other stand-out candidates.”

Jamie thanked the supporters: “It’s a really special moment for me, I been here three-and-half years now, so it feels like all the awards have come at once. They are special bunch of fans, I know a lot of them individually, that probably why I won! It’s one of the best fan bases in the league, they are loud and that’s the Tonbridge bunch, really strong support and I thank them so much for giving me this award.”

At half-time Sophie awarded Wink Tomkinson the Austin Verini Shield for his voluntary services to the club.
