Jay’s Friday Briefing
An update before our trip to Cheshunt.
The list of players available to Jay Saunders is considerably different to those available for the cup tie at Binfield last week.
Around seven or eight players who were unavailable last weekend are now battling for places in the starting eleven, including new signing Ruben Soares-Junior, now eligible after a delay to his registration, Tommie Fagg from suspension, and both Louis Collins and Craig Braham-Barrett who were unavailable last weekend. One new doubt is Tushaun Walters, who was injured in training this week.
Also added to the squad is Jaden Crowhurst, who has joined from Southend for a month.
Jay said of Jaden: “Southend think highly of him, he’s started two games for them this season and has been on the bench in some others. We’re lucky they’ve allowed us to have him for a month.”
Speaking about tomorrow’s opponents Cheshunt, Jay said: “They’re really hard working, Craig (Edwards) did a really good job getting them up, and their front line is up there with anything in the league.”
Jay also gave us an update on some of the longer term injuries at the club:
“Doug Loft (achilles) is still in a boot for another couple of weeks, then he sees a specialist again and we’ll have a better idea after that. He’s determined to get back playing.
“Tom Parkinson (ankle)has probably got about three weeks before he can start light training after his ankle injury.
“Dylan Gavin (ankle) is back at Charlton getting treatment so I expect another three or four weeks before he’s back involved with us which is a blow.”
