Jay's Friday Briefing
Jay speaks with Matt Davison ahead of the trip to Chippenham
We make the first of two consecutive trips to the South West of England on Saturday when we head to Chippenham.
The Wiltshire side have made a reasonable start to the season, winning their opening two games against Aveley and Havant before losing 2-1 at Torquay on Tuesday night.
We got our points tally going on Tuesday with a 1-0 win over Dover, and manager Jay Saunders is hoping to build on that:
"We just wanted the three points. It was a Kent derby but for me it was getting those first three points off, it just takes the pressure off. Not completely, I think we should be on more than three points, but from the lads' performance you could see they didn't feel under pressure, we were capable and it was just fine margins in the two games before. Now we've got to build on that.
"Chippenham lost a few in the summer and brought in some new players. They have a good squad. They play good football and we'll have to be on it. Last season we drew 2-all there in an end to end game and I think tomorrow won't be any different. We've two teams both of whom are capable of having a good season.
"We're getting there now. It was good to get minutes from Jernade and Payney. Joe Boachie got his scan results and we're just waiting for the specialist to confirm everything with that, and the only other one is Swifty with concussion, where the protocol is now 19 days. We're hoping if all goes to plan he'll be back for the Welling game. Gio (Crichlow) didn't make the squad Tuesday. I had to make some decisions and someone had to miss out. With him having been suspended I thought I had all the bases covered but he'll get his chance, he knows that."
