Jay's Friday Briefing
Matt Davison speaks with Jay Saunders ahead of tomorrow's trip to Yeovil
Tonbridge Angels are looking for a third straight win on Saturday, against a team who four years ago were in the Football League, and nine years ago were in the Championship.
The trip to Yeovil is one of the biggest games for supporters, but what about for manager Jay Saunders?
"It's one you look forward to, a ground which was in the Championship, decent pitch, decent crowd, it's a league ground realistically, and they're one of the favourites," he said. "It's one of the games you want to be involved in. We're all looking forward to it but that's the same with every game. When you win two in a row and play well, as we have, you always look forward to playing the next game.
"I've played there and managed there. It's been a few years, but I know Mark Cooper well, I managed against him when he was at Forest Green the year they got promoted. You've always got to be confident after two wins, we've got a good group of lads who are enjoying their football. It's a busy weekend, if players enjoy their football it becomes easier and things get better."
Player wise, there will be at least one change to the squad, but there may not be too many more:
"Faggy's suspended after last week. Joe Boachie's been given the all clear, but realistically he will go out and get some games because he's missed so much of pre-season. He is technically available for this weekend, but whether we'll involve him is a different matter. He's had two training sessions but match sharpness will be a problem. We're just in the process of sorting that out."
"Ben Swift has passed all the tests after concussion. Jade's been fantastic with him, and he could be available for Welling, but he won't travel tomorrow.
"This is the most important game, then we can concentrate on Monday."
