Jay's Friday Briefing

Management

Jay looks ahead to tomorrow's encounter with Matt Davison

Taunton Town are the opponents at the Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadium on Saturday as the Angels look to avenge the two defeats last year.

Manager Jay Saunders is in confident mood but knows they'll have to be aware of the Somerset side's strengths:

"Rob's got a well organised side, they were last year, and there were a lot of goals in the games against them.  They've made a good start to this season so it shows we're in for a tough test."

Team news wise, captain Scott Wagstaff serves a ban for amassing five bookings, but Jay Saunders has a plan in mind:

"It's a blow, he's our captain and we don't want to be without him, but that's why we have squads.  It's up to whoever we pick to come in and do a job.  I'm sure they will.  We've got a few options, we know how we want to line up against them, and we're going to have to be disciplined.  They're a big side, they're strong at set pieces and we have to make sure we're right.

"Jernade Meade is still on international duty, Lewis Gard will probably have a fitness test before the game, I won't want to rush him but hopefully he'll be OK and he'll be involved."

Jay also spoke about how the introduction of Jordan Greenidge to the squad has had a positive effect on the group.

"I said all along it was a no brainer to bring Jordan back, he can score goals," he said.  The other night he had a chance, he went through and probably took an extra touch when a sharp Jordan would have had a shot.  He's come back in good shape, he just needs to get back that sharpness in front of goal, which will come.  He's made a difference.  He and Ibby are good together and once he gets a goal he'll be up and running and more will follow."
