Jay's Friday Briefing
Jay speaks with Matt Davison prior to the trip to Taunton
We prepare to play our final game before Christmas on Saturday as we make the trip to Somerset to play Taunton. Although Taunton have had a few home games called off recently, they haven't had any rain for the last four days so fingers crossed the game will take place.
Manager Jay Saunders said: "Last season when we played them we lost Jonny on the morning of the game but this year we're looking good, we're second in the form table, we're on the back of a good result and we go in good spirits. They're well organised, it's a tough place to go and we know what we're in for but if everyone does their jobs we'll give ourselves a good opportunity.
"Most people I speak to it's all Maidstone, Maidstone, Maidstone, but for us we haven't spoken about those games yet. All our focus is on Taunton. Once tomorrow's out of the way, on the coach back we can start looking at Maidstone and preparing for that game. But first Taunton has to be the priority and getting three points there."
Team-news wise, we're still waiting for confirmation of Jamie Fielding's injury against Dartford, but otherwise there won't be many changes to the squad.
Jay explained: "Jamie's at the hospital today, as far as I'm concerned he's out. If the hospital say it's all good then we'll look at it, but if it's concussion it's 21 days. It'll be a blow, it's that centre-back area again for us, but Kodi (Lyons-Foster) is back available, he's been training for a few weeks and he's back in contention. He could have been involved against Dartford but I thought we'd not throw him straight in, and get him involved this week. Joe Tyrie isn't available for family reasons, but Bill French, (who's on dual reg at Erith and Belvedere) will be in the squad."
