Jay's Friday Briefing

Jay speaks to Matt Davison prior to tomorrow's Longmead encounter with Chippenham Town

Tonbridge manager Jay Saunders says he always looks forward to games against Chippenham Town, but is keen to put the last defeat behind us before tomorrow's game.

Chippenham come to Tonbridge three points behind the Angels but with two games in hand.

Jay Saunders said:  "They're a good footballing side. Since I've been here we've had some really good games against them and I really enjoy them. They play a good style, I get along with their manager quite well and it's a game I quite look forward to because they're usually entertaining games. We've got to bounce back from the defeat and that's what it's about. We're at home, other than the Worthing game our home record's not too bad so we've got to try and get three points on the board, it won't be easy but we'll be ready for it."

Although the transfer deadline for National League South isn't for a few weeks, this week the football league window closed, so what effect does that have on recruitment?

Jay said:  "It can have an effect. Wimbledon took Ethan (Sutcliffe) back because they were losing people in the transfer window. If you loan players from premier league clubs you have to do it window to window, there are different ways it affects you, but for us the squad is where it is. We've got Nathan on loan for another couple of weeks and we'll assess it. If he gets called back we'll have to look at it. Obviously Ebbsfleet aren't sure who they're bringing in (as manager). I've been pleased with Nathan. He probably could have a couple more goals to his name but he had his clever finish Saturday and he hit the post, and we've been impressed with his link-up play. In general I hope it's more of a long term thing, but he's someone else's player."

Jay also said the player availability is looking strong for this week with some key players returning:

"Jernade Meade trained this week and Ansu Janneh has been back this week after illness so other than Swifty everyone's been available for training so we've got options which is a big plus."
