A further signing revealed by Craig Nelson at Wednesday’s meeting was that of Matthew Warren, to whom we welcome to the Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadium.

Matty joins from Lewes, where he was signed by Craig in the summer of 2024. As a combative and energetic midfielder, he became a key part of the Lewes squad, making 40 appearances, scoring five times, and earning both the Manager’s Player and Players’ Player of the Season awards in 2024/25.

Matt’s senior career started at Chipstead before moving on to Cray Valley PM. He made a real impact at Sittingbourne, where he won both the Players’ and Managers’ Player of the Year awards in the 2022/23 season. He began 2023/24 with Sevenoaks before joining Ramsgate in March 2024 for their, albeit unsuccessful, promotion push.

Craig commented on being reunited with Matty: "Matty is a player who brings bite, drive, and real energy to the midfield. I know exactly what I’m getting with him, someone who leaves everything out there and raises the standards around him. He was excellent for me last year and fully deserved his double player of the year awards. I know he’ll make a big impact here at Tonbridge."

Matty added: “I’m very happy to sign for Tonbridge Angels this season. I enjoy the physical side of the game, but equally, I like getting the ball down, playing and contributing at both ends of the pitch. I’ve got a good understanding of how Craig wants his team to play and I really enjoyed working with him and his staff last year.”
