Naz returns for 25/26

Versatile defender commits to the Angels

Tonbridge Angels are pleased to announce that Nazir Bakrin has committed to the club for next season.

Naz was on trial at the club through the pre-season of 2024 and impressed to earn a place in Jay Saunders’ squad.

The 22-year-old defender came to the Angels after being released at the end of the 2023/24 season by Charlton Athletic, where he had been since 2021 following a youth career at Fulham. He made three EFL Trophy appearances for the Addicks’ senior team.

Naz was predominantly used as a central defender but towards the end of the season was pushed further forward as a holding midfielder to good effect. He made 46 appearances, scoring on a couple of occasions.

Craig Nelson said: "Naz was someone we identified very early as a key player to keep. His adaptability, and composure on the ball make him a real asset for us, whether that’s at centre-back or as a holding midfielder. He’s got a great attitude, and we’re excited to see him push on again this season."

Naz commented on his return: "I’m happy to sign on again as I really enjoyed my time here last year. Can’t wait to work with the new coaches and players for this new season. “

Welcome back Naz, have a great season!
