Oh, Jeremy Santos!
Midfielder returns to the Angels
Tonbridge Angels are delighted to welcome the return, initially on a one month loan, of Jeremy Santos from Charlton Athletic. The loan has been funded by owners through the 12th Man Fund.
Jeremy enjoyed, and Angels supporters did likewise, a fantastic extended loan last season in which he made 16 appearances, scoring three times including a stunning strike at Cheshunt and the winning goal against Chelmsford City.
Unfortunately, his initial loan period was curtailed by a hamstring injury sustained in early November, although he was able to return to the Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadium in March for the final seven games.
Manager Jay Saunders said of his return: “We have been trying to get Santos back to the club since pre-season. I wanted to bring in someone I know can add something different to what we have and someone with real quality. On top of that he had a real desire to come back to the Angels and we are delighted to have him back.”
Jeremy, who has dual nationality with Ecuador, has been at The Valley since he was nine years old and progressed through the youth ranks before earning his first contract with Charlton in July 2021 and in May of this year, the club exercised its option to extend his contract.
Jeremy commented after training on Thursday evening: I’m glad I’ve had the opportunity to come back to an amazing club where I feel at home with the team and the fans. I love the club and will give 100% of myself. I’m looking forward to helping the team by adding quality and hopefully we can get results along the way.
On behalf of Tonbridge Angels, chair Sophie Purves would like to thank Charlton Athletic for facilitating this loan signing.
