Olutade praises “amazing” fans after last-gasp equaliser
The goal hero reacts to a thrilling finale at Longmead
Ibrahim Olutade was the hero on Saturday afternoon after coming off the bench to slam home the equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Hampton & Richmond Borough.
Speaking after the game, the striker credited the fans for their contribution after the Angels got their first home goal of the season in the Vanarama National League South.
“The fans have been amazing since I arrived here,” Olutade told Matt Davison after the full-time whistle. “They always cheer the boys on no matter what. Even in away games they cheer us on, so it’s good to have them back.”
The Angels fell behind to a brilliant free-kick for Hampton midway through the second half – but Steve McKimm’s side kept plugging away and eventually got a deserved reward.
“We were playing well the whole game so it was frustrating to concede the free-kick to them,” said Olutade. “Then we started chasing the game, towards the end. Happy we managed to get a goal towards the end, so yeah – good result.”
