Pete moves from grass to 3G

The Angels Board is delighted to announce that Peter Elves has been appointed full time Stadium Manager concurrent with the installation of the clubs new 3G playing surface.

Pete, as perhaps he is better known, is of course very familiar to regular Angels supporters for his sterling work over the last few years in providing a perfect grass surface often to the envy of visiting clubs and this despite the challenges of difficult geography and geology that the Longmead site has offered up.  So perfect has his work been that he has received various top national awards for pitch maintenance.

As the club now embarks on a new era with its 3G FIFA Quality Pro surface currently being laid, Pete also is transferring his undoubted skills to maintaining the new pitch for what will be a far greater use that the artificial surface will command together with the preparation of different configurations as required by hirers and various fixture schedules.

The position of Stadium Manager however covers a much wider remit than just pitch maintenance important though that is, and includes Stadium Safety Officer, involving oversight and deployment of match-day stewards and security personnel, overseeing new building projects, including repairs and renovations across the site and the efficient and regular provision of all utilities. Pete will also have a liaison role with the Safety at Grounds committee of Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council ensuring compliance with all requirements is made.

Angels Chairman, Dave Netherstreet said today: "I'm delighted that Pete has been appointed to this vital role.  He knows the heritage and culture of our club but has also been enthusiastic to embrace the new facilities and opportunities we shall have on offer and the long term advantages that brings to Tonbridge Angels."
