Ryan moves in from the English Riviera

Torquay midfielder becomes an Angel
Tonbridge Angels are delighted to welcome to the Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadum, Ryan Hanson, a 23 year-old defensive midfielder from Torquay United on a permanent transfer.
Ryan, who can also play in central defence, began his career at Crystal Palace as a youth before moving on to Hull City where he was a regular in their Under-23 side. On his release from the EFL club in the summer of 2021, he joined his hometown club of Dover Athletic, where he had previously spent a loan spell and in season 2021/22 he made 26 appearances for the Whites.
A good season attracted the attention of Torquay United and he signed for the then National League club during the summer of 2022. He made 30 appearances for the Gulls and has made a further 15 appearances this season.
Jay Saunders said of his new signing: "Ryan is someone who we had a deal to take earlier in the season on loan and it fell through, Torquay needed him in the end. He's a lad from this way, from Dover, he was Dover's captain, and he's someone who can add something different. With his size he can play centre-mid, centre-half and is a good addition to the squad. I thought it was important to get someone in permanently, not a loan, and he's an option for next year. "
Ryan commented: “I am delighted to be joining Tonbridge for the remainder of the season. A club with ambition and a great footballing play style. When the Gaffer showed interest in me and we spoke, I knew it was the right place for me. I look forward to helping Tonbridge get a good run of results together and push towards the play offs.”
Ryan is available for selection for today's game at Welling United.
