Tonbridge Angels are delighted to announce that Sean Shields has been named as the Vanarama National League South Player of the Month for August. We believe it is the first time an Angels’ player has been given the award at Step Two level.

Sean has had a superb start to the season, scoring five times and assisting twice, in the opening eight games, one of which he missed through injury.

Sean said on receiving his award: “I feel humbled to win this award. I want it to be celebrated as a collective achievement, as without my teammates, the coaching staff and everyone else associated with the club, it wouldn’t have been possible. We have made a really positive start to the season and need to take this form and feel good factor into the tough September schedule, that we face.”

His manager, Jay Saunders addd: “I congratulate Sean on his award, it is fully deserved. Since the moment he came to the club he has shown what a good player he is and this year he has started the season on another level and it is not just on the pitch, it’s off the pitch with his experience and leadership amongst the boys has helped us to have a great start to the season.”
