Tariq returns for 2023/24
Hinds signs!
Tonbridge Angels are delighted to announce the re-signing of Tariq Hinds for the coming season.
Tariq joined the club in October, making his debut in the memorable home win over Chelmsford City. He went on to make 30 appearances, scoring just the once but one that will live in the memory for a long time, a volley from 35 yards that sailed over the Worthing goalkeeper’s head, of which manager Jay Saunders said at the time: “People don’t realise how much quality it takes to score a goal like that, it was pure class.”
Tariq, very soon to become 23 years of age, spent four seasons of his youth career at Tottenham Hotspur before moving overseas to Lusitano Evora in Portugal. On his return to the United Kingdom, he signed for Billericay Town for season 2021/22 where he made 20 appearances.
Tariq came to Jay Saunders’ attention when he played for the Angels as a trialist in a friendly game against Hythe Town. He continued to train with the club, made a good impression and the manager was pleased to sign him up.
Tariq became a fans’ favourite and those supporters will undoubtedly welcome his return for next season, said after penning his signature: “I’m excited to be back for next season. I'm looking forward to joining up with the lads again and kicking on from where we ended up last season.”
Jay added his pleasure at another important signing in the building of his squad, commenting: “Delighted to retain the services of Tariq, his versatility was important last season and will, without doubt, prove to be again next season.”
