Tonbridge Angels to host FC Hertz

FC Hertz

New home for Ukrainians

Tonbridge Angels are delighted to announce that we have signed a second pitch hire agreement for the 2024/25 season, with FC Hertz who will play in the Sevenoaks District League.

FC Hertz are a new team founded by Oganez Safarov, Nazarii Bahrynovskyi and Vasyl Senechyn, who have relocated to the UK following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Tonbridge Angels have been hosting Ukrainian refugee children on Sunday evenings since April 2024 under the UK Government’s “Homes for Ukraine” scheme, coached by Oganez and his co-founders.

FC Hertz matches will be played on Saturday afternoon/evenings, starting on 7th September, after our first pitch hire partners, Ide Hill FC, have completed their fixture.

Director Ian Clear commented “We’re very pleased to be able to accommodate FC Hertz at the Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadium. Our Ukrainian friends have been a pleasure to deal with and I’m delighted we can now host their competitive fixtures for their coming season”.

FC Hertz founder and manager Oganez Safarov said: “We are immensely grateful for the opportunity to play the game we love, despite all the challenges our community has faced. This project has helped many Ukrainians strengthen both their physical and mental health; as well as make new friends. On behalf of our entire community, we express our deep gratitude to Tonbridge Angels and its management, as well as to the staff, particularly Pete Cusselle and Glen Robus, for their assistance and support and for being there for us all this time. We hope this season will bring us all a positive boost of emotions and we would be delighted to see you among our supporters at the stadium”.

Tonbridge Angels supporters are welcome to watch both the Ide Hill and FC Hertz matches, on the Saturdays when the men’s first team are playing away.
