Tyrie signs for next season
Joe is contracted for 2024/25
Tonbridge Angels are delighted to confirm the contracted re-signing for next season of central defender Joe Tyrie.
Joe is certainly one of our own. Now 20, Joe progressed through every year group of Kent Youth League football with the Angels and served three years at the club’s Academy, in which he picked up a title winner’s medal every season.
Jay Saunders said of young centre back: “It’s great having Joe signing on for next season. He has gone out and had a really good season at Sittingbourne, making the play-offs and having a really big part in that, so gaining valuable experience that will help him push on this season after some good appearances for us last year.”
As a 17 year-old, Joe was dual registered with Crowborough Athletic and eventually captained the Crows at just 18 years of age. Over the last two seasons Joe has gained a great deal of experience playing a lot of games on loan at Sittingbourne (62 appearances, scoring five times) under the guidance of Ryan Maxwell which last term saw the Brickies finish third in Isthmian League South East but missing out in the play-offs.
Here at the Halcyon Wealth Longmead Stadium, Joe presently has 12 first team appearances to his name, with hopefully many more to follow.
Joe commented: “Really pleased to sign again this season, looking forward to playing more games and helping the team push on this year. Can’t wait for the season to start.”
