Up There Cazaly ! No 7

Up There Cazaly! No 7

We look back at seasons 1955/56 and 1956/57

It's the era of such luminaries as Ron Saunders, Tommy Bickerstaff and Bob Hailstones.  They and many others served the Angels with much distinction in what was a very different time for football.  Imagine 6,730 spectators turning up for a Kent Senior Cup Semi final at The Old Angel Ground and watch the home side beat Tunbridge Wells United 2-0 and then for the final at Priestfield, Maidstone & District Motor Services Ltd (remember them!) running coaches and British Railways operating a special train to Gillingham via The Medway Valley Line.  The Angels were to lose that final 2-0 to Folkestone.

Our thanks as ever to the late Brian Cheal for the narrative, Wink Tomkinson for editing and production,  and Dan Couldridge for the stats.
