Volunteer Day a great success

Around 50 volunteers reported for duty at Longmead on a sultry Sunday morning (June 23) tasked with giving the ground its annual tidy up before the new season starts in a few weeks time.
Fortified by one of Amy Weaver’s delicious bacon rolls and a coffee the teams eagerly got to work on a variety of jobs that included fence construction, re-felting the dugouts, weeding, cleaning of all seats and advertising hoardings, repairs to the Media Tower stairs and Tea Shack roof, re-painting yellow hatched areas, and painting of the Longmead Lounge in preparation for new pictures to be placed.
Angels Chairman Dave Netherstreet said : “There was a fantastic cross section of people associated with the club in one way or another and I would like to thank them all for giving up their Sunday to give the place a real facelift. With our upcoming campaign in National South we shall obviously be playing at some bigger grounds, but I’m sure visiting teams and their supporters will be impressed with the set up we have here. Special thanks to Dave Brown for organising the day, and to Amy for the excellent refreshments.”
