Walking Football Update

Bexley Whites 1 Tonbridge Angels Over-50's 2

On Monday night the Angels Over-50's Walking Footballers travelled to Bexley for their second game of the season. Having lost their opener last week the team wanted to get a result but we were facing stiff opposition as Bexley have great sides across all age groups.

The team were given the game plan and, from the off, dominated play with retention of the ball, great communication and tight marking restricting Bexley who were starved of any chances. In the ninth minute Darren Cray collected the ball in front of the opposition defence, turned his player and buried the ball into the corner to take a lead that was thoroughly deserved. The only blot on the first half was that we had conceded three runs, one more and a penalty to Bexley would be the result.

Mark Cornish in the Tonbridge goal only had to make one save of note.

In the second half Bexley came out full of determination and with five minutes left were awarded a penalty, we had run again. Bexley duly scored from the spot and then followed a period of Bexley pressure with Mark making five great saves.

But Tonbridge got to grips again and were awarded a free kick on the edge of the Bexley area. Darren Cray once again found the top corner, restoring our lead. With two minutes remaining Darren got a blue card and the team were a man down for the rest of the game but we held on for a great three points.
