Tariq joined the club in October 2022, making his debut in the memorable home win over Chelmsford City. He went on to make 30 appearances, scoring just the once but one that will live in the memory for a long time, a volley from 35 yards that sailed over the Worthing goalkeeper’s head, of which manager Jay Saunders said at the time: “People don’t realise how much quality it takes to score a goal like that, it was pure class.”

Tariq spent four seasons of his youth career at Tottenham Hotspur before moving overseas to Lusitano Evora in Portugal. On his return to the United Kingdom, he signed for Billericay Town for season 2021/22 where he made 20 appearances.

Tariq came to Jay Saunders’ attention when he played for the Angels as a trialist in a friendly game against Hythe Town. He continued to train with the club, made a good impression and the manager was pleased to sign him up.
