Kent Youth League Preview

Our KYL coaches look forward to this Sunday's fixtures

This Sunday’s Kent Youth League programme sees two of our sides enter the League Cup journey whilst the other two look to build on their opening day wins in the league.

The Under-13’s make their Yeomans Community Stadium debut with a Kent Awards League Cup First Round tie against Unique FA with a 2pm kick off.

Olly Pantrey’s lads will be looking to put their opening day defeat, despite an excellent performance, at Rochester City behind them as Olly previewed their home debut: “It’s a big week for the Under-13’s as we play our first ever home game as a new Tonbridge Angels youth team against Unique FC. The boys are buzzing to play at Longmead after a strong performance in last week’s opener against Rochester City. The cup gives us the chance to test ourselves against new teams, and we’re looking forward to showing our possession football and attacking style in this competition.”

Unique also suffered a defeat last Sunday when they went down 2-1 at home to Metrogas.

Also in League Cup action are the Under-16’s who travel to Herne Bay following their dominant performance last Sunday when they beat Long Lane 4-1. Sunday’s game will be played at the Crest Stadium, Stanley Gardens, Herne Bay CT6 5SG with at 2.30pm kick off. Herne Bay began their league season with a 3-0 defeat at Faversham Town. Dom Welsh looked forward to the game: “The Under-16’s enter the first round of the league cup with a seaside trip to Herne Bay, after a positive start last week and, following two good training sessions midweek, the team is in good shape. The cups are something we want to do well in this season to challenge the players against teams across the divisions.”

The Under-15’s open Sunday’s proceedings at the Yeomans Community Stadium with a league game against Ramsgate, kicking off at 12 midday, looking to follow up last week’s comprehensive win at Whitstable Town. Their opponents suffered a 2-1 home reverse against Kings Hill to open their season. James Ward: “We are looking forward to an exciting match ahead. Coming off a strong week of training and getting some key players back is a great boost. Ramsgate finished in the top four last season which shows they’ll be tough competition, but we’re feeling confident, focused and know we need to take three points if we’re going to challenge for the title.”

Oliver Stell’s boys will take on Old Wilsonians at the Old Wilsonians Sports Ground, Hayes Hill, Bromley BR2 7HN, looking to build on their opening day win at Sutton Athletic. The match will kick off at 2pm. Old Wilsonians fell to a 3-0 defeat at the Gallagher against Maidstone United last Sunday. Oliver previewed: “The Under-14’s are back on the road again this weekend travelling to Bromley to face Old Wilsonians in what looks to be another early season test for the squad. We will look to keep our momentum going forward off the back of last week’s victory against Sutton Athletic and with one player returning from injury we have a full squad raring to go.”

Good luck to all of our teams and enjoy the games!
